- A1GP: Car failure forces delay to new season - Brits on Pole
Well, it always looked tight for the new A1GP car to be ready in time and it has proved to be so. I'm still surprised they aren't just moving the Mugello race though, since I thought they were racing there for the first race so that they had easy access to spare parts!… - Superleague Formula: Hometown boy Dalziel excited with Rangers drive - Brits on Pole
More Glasbolisation I see… Before we know it the whole of Scotland will just be 'Glasgow'! Ryan Dalziel's hometown club is actually Hamilton Accademical (but it wouldn't surprise me if he actually did support Rangers).I'm not blaming Brits on Pole for this by the way, but whoever wrote the original press release. I suppose it's only natural they try and spin this so nicely, but really this is like saying Milton Keynes is in London.

I’d be surprised if Mugello doesn’t re-attach itself to the A1GP calendar somewhere along the way, but there’s no spinning it as anything but a but supreme foul-up.
As for Dalziel, when the original news release explicitly describes him as “Glasgow-born” in its first paragraph it doesn’t seem unreasonable to go with the local angle - although, granted, we should have spotted the man himself says Hamilton is his actual home town. To be honest, I was more worried about triggering Rangers-Celtic rivalries!

Anyway, he’s a darn sight closer to being local to his team than the Spanish squad managing the Tottenham entry are to theirs…
Out of curiosity, is there any sense in which you feel that a Rangers FC car in a set-up like this has anything to do with you, or Scotland, or anything at all?

Not really. I was just wondering myself if any Rangers FC fans are even aware of Superleague. I bet 99% of Rangers supporters are blissfully unaware, and I do wonder what’s in it for these football clubs. I guess I should wait and see how Superleague turns out (I was sceptical about A1GP as well), but I have to admit it just makes me scratch my head.
