Twitter Updates for 2008-05-11

  • All set to Twitter the #F1 Turkish Grand Prix. Remember the liveblog too http://tinyurl.com/59vt5p #
  • This morning’s GP2 race was disrupted by stray dogs on the track. Let’s hope they don’t make an appearance during the grand prix #
  • Awful start for Raikkonen #
  • Crash at the back with a Force India and a Williams #
  • Kubica is up to third! #
  • Safety Car comes out #
  • It was Fisichella who was knocked out. Didn’t really see what happened, he had a tussle in turn 1 #
  • Alonso is in 5th ahead of Raikkonen in 6th. The Williams was Nakajima which has lost its front wing. Sutil needs a new front wing #
  • This was totally Fisichella’s fault - he completely forgot to brake! What on earth was that about? #
  • Alonso’s start was fantastic - his move on Raikkonen in turn 1 through to turn 2 was brilliant #
  • FOM bring us - for the first time - a camera view from *inside* the Safety Car. Nice work #
  • Kovalainen has pitted - but why? #
  • Raikkonen re-takes Alonso, and he made it look really easy. That Ferrari is such an awesome car #
  • Gutted that Nakajima has retired. I’m in a minority, but I rate him. This crash was all Fisichella’s fault. #
  • Kovy and Sutil touched while Kovy overtook - that’s Kovy’s second tap of the race after Kimi hit him on lap 1 #
  • The track is getting quickly getting quicker (if you know what I mean). Hamilton FL 1:26.742 #
  • Alonso pits while Hamilton gets the gap to Massa down to 0.7s #
  • Alonso was disappointingly light. I thought he’d be able to make a few more laps than this #
  • Hamilton pits, but the McLaren mechanics seem to be surprised? #
  • Is this tactical because he was getting in Massa’s dirty air? That was a short stop #
  • @somefool - I get a feeling in my water that this is Hamilton’s race - he looked too good behing Massa #
  • Massa pits now on lap 19, and it’s another set of softs waiting for him #
  • Massa comes out still ahead of Hamilton #
  • The gap is much larger now. Did Hamilton fall asleep after his pitstop? #
  • Now Raikkonen leads and is setting the fastest laps. He was, as I suspected, heavier than his rivals #
  • Ferrari mechanics ready for Kimi, so he wasn’t *that* much heavier #
  • Raikkonen doesn’t look good for the lead, but he is now ahead of Kubica #
  • is there rain in the air? Kotenok on liveblog reporting that he’s seen spots of moisture on the cameras #
  • OMG Hamilton has overtaken Massa! Awesome!! #
  • But does this just signify that Hamilton is much lighter than Massa? Could he really be on a 3 stop strategy? #
  • Hamilton is now already 1.8s ahead of Massa. He *must* be on a 3 stopper, in which case Hamilton is in trouble #
  • LOL: Retweeting @craigblog: Massa left a flippin’ welcome mat out for Lewis there #
  • Bourdais is in the gravel, he is beached #
  • Kovy pits - perhaps in case the SC comes out #
  • Radio problems for Kubica yet again - his team can’t hear him at all #
  • Hamilton pits! Earlier than i expected again #
  • Hards for Hamilton again - he’ll have to make another stop #
  • Nightmare for Kovy today. He is all over cars at the back, but is struggling to overtake. He remains in 14th #
  • Kovy takes Glock at last. And Glock gets him back! Incredible! #
  • And Kovy gets him again! I remember this… it’s called racing! This is what F1 should be all about! #
  • While that was happening, Piquet was also attempting to pass Button but it didn’t stick #
  • Now Piquet makes it stick again, at the same portion of the circuit. And Kovy gets Button on the pit straight! #
  • You have to hand it to Tilke, those last few corners of the circuit are *brilliant* for overtaking #
  • Keith on liveblog that the FIA has - rightly - reacted quite strongly to the incident in GP2 where dogs were on the track. #
  • It’s worth remembering that Bernie Ecclestone owns this circuit! Whoops #
  • Massa pits now #
  • A lot now comes down to which is worse between a McLaren on softs or a Ferrari on hards. Massa has lost a lot of pace #
  • Has Massa’s race been ruined by his relatively long third stint? Raikkonen comes into the pits now #
  • Hamilton still has to pit - can he maximise the length of time he remains on the hard tyres that suit his car? #
  • Here comes the thermal cam. More good work from FOm :-) #
  • Hamilton pits - will this short third stint be enough for him to catch Massa? I doubt it #
  • Hamilton is now ahead of Raikkonen! This strategy has partially worked for McLaren (for once!) #
  • But how much will Hamilton struggle on softs? He was reluctant to use this tyre even for one lap in quali yesterday #
  • Massa and Raikkonen are setting identical times just now. Hamilton is slightly slower #
  • Kovalainen overtakes crash magnet DC cleanly #
  • Amazing move by Kovalainen on Rosberg! he is on fire, and such great racing there from both drivers! Exquisite move from Kovy #
  • Kovy iis now on course to score a point! Incredible! #
  • Oh dear, unfortunately Kovy has had to go into the pits! :-( #
  • Heidfeld has had a good race. He’s made four positions from the start, more than anyone else #
  • Hamilton is 5.1 seconds down on the final lap, so he can’t win now. But he has to keep an eye on Kimi, who is just 0.7s behind #
  • Massa wins! His third Turkish GP victory in a row! #
  • Hamilton is 2nd, with Kimi 3rd. #
  • Kubica and Heidfeld make up a BMW 4-5. A good day also for Red Bull - Webber 7th, Coulthard 9th #
  • Toyota will be disappointed. After a couple of good races, Trulli could only make 10th, while Glock is 13th #
  • Kovalainen had a heroic drive which was ruined a bit by a 3 stop strategy. He finished 12th #
  • Ron Dennis is saying that the 3 stop strategy was for "safety" reasons - "internal delaminations" apparently #
  • Well that was a great race if you ask me. One of the best I’ve seen for a while; certainly the best this year so far #
  • Will someone please give David Croft some cough medicine? The poor man has been hacking away since the start of the season #
  • Just been watching some replays. That turn 1 accident was really dangerous. Fisi climbed right on top of Nakajima. Could have been nasty #
  • Result: 1 MAS, 2 HAM, 3 RAI, 4 KUB, 5 HEI, 6 ALO, 7 WEB, 8 ROS, 9 COU, 10 TRU, 11 BUT, 12 KOV, 13 GLO, 14 BAR, 15 PIQ, 16 SUT, 17 VET #
